The Valerie J. Maynard Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Inventory and Archive Intern to support the Foundation’s ongoing archival and collections management efforts. This junior role works closely under the guidance of the Archival Associate to assist with the documentation, handling, and preparation of artworks, photographs, documents, and other archival materials related to the legacy of artist and activist Valerie J. Maynard.
Candidate brings curiosity, organizational skill, and a commitment to cultural preservation. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging professional interested in pursuing a career in art history, archival studies, museum work, or cultural heritage.

Multidisciplinary artist, archivist, and culture worker MacKenzie River Foy served as Valerie J. Maynard Legacy Intern in 2023–24, in the inaugural cohort of the collaborative internship program created by the Valerie J. Maynard Foundation and the Baltimore Museum of Art. The internship honors artist Valerie J. Maynard (1937–2022; pictured above), a pioneering member of the Black Arts Movement and beloved icon of the Baltimore arts community, whose multidecade practice engaged with the complexity of Black identity and experience.
